The Oregon School Boards Association is organized as one general state association with up to 22 regionally elected representatives established across 14 geographic regions to support member participation and representation.
In odd-numbered years, member boards vote to elect regional representatives for even-numbered positions on the OSBA Board of Directors. Member boards also vote to elect all regional representatives on the Legislative Policy Committee.
In even-numbered years, member boards vote to elect regional representatives for odd-numbered positions on the OSBA Board of Directors.
Any resolutions submitted to the membership are included on the ballot with candidate elections.
Serving on the OSBA board is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the future direction, governance, and success of the Association. Board members play a vital role in providing strategic leadership, ensuring accountability, and representing the interests of our members statewide. Board members are elected from regions but serve the organization as a whole, using regional perspectives to guide their work.
Serving on the Legislative Policy Committee (LPC) supports OSBA’s primary legislative goal to serve as a collective voice for all Oregon public school boards by building relationships with the legislators that represent each LPC region, serving as a resource for the OSBA members within each LPC region, and lending an effective voice in public policy that impacts education. The LPC members report to and represent the member boards in their respective LPC region.
