Board Development

Professional Development for Stronger Leadership

OSBA has always prepared new board members for board service and helped experienced board members become more effective in their roles as elected officials.

Board members need to know public meetings law, parliamentary procedure, teamwork, budgeting, policymaking, ethics laws, public engagement, public relations and many more skills to function effectively and efficiently.

Board Development Facilitation

Put our expertise to work for you! OSBA understands the issues board members face and fast-tracks you to expertise in these and other areas:

  • Board roles and responsibilities
  • Governance
  • Effective meetings
  • Evaluating your superintendent, executive director or president
  • Board self-evaluation
  • Goal setting/strategic planning
  • Community engagement and advocacy
  • Organizational culture and climate
  • Using data, systems, innovation and equitable practices for student success
  • Managing conflict, change and relationships

The OSBA Leadership Institute

The Certificate of Recognition in Leadership Achievement reflects your growing importance.

The OSBA Leadership Institute was created to align conferences, workshops, on-site sessions and other leadership activities for board members into a recognition program.

OSBA workshops meet the needs of busy people – some courses are online while others are offered in person at workshops and conferences. OSBA also presents custom on-site sessions to meet local needs.
