Board of Directors

Meet Our Board

The OSBA board consists of up to 25 directors, including 20 directors elected by members on a regional basis as defined in OSBA Bylaw 3.5 for a two-calendar-year term, one designated director as defined in the bylaws of the Oregon School Board Members of Color Caucus, and one designated director as defined in the bylaws of the Oregon Rural School Board Members Caucus.

The board also includes these non-voting, ex-officio members who serve as advisors to the board of directors:

  • Any director of the National School Boards Association elected from Oregon;
  • The executive director of the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators;
  • The chair-elect of the Oregon Association of Education Service Districts;
  • The board president of the Oregon Community College Association;
  • The chair of the Oregon State Board of Education.

OSBA policy delegates to the Board of Directors the authority to create the programs of the association and to carry out association business between special and annual meetings. “Policy 2100: Board of Directors” defines specific duties. As a group, the Board is subject to direction by a majority of association members at a regular or special meeting. Each OSBA Board member reports and is responsive to the needs of the region that elected the member.

The Board exists to ensure the effective governance and long-term success of the association. Its purpose is to provide leadership, set strategic direction, and uphold accountability through sound policies and transparent decision-making. The Board is dedicated to maintaining financial stability, fostering member engagement, and supporting organizational growth. By overseeing executive leadership, approving budgets, and guiding elections, the Board safeguards the integrity of operations. Additionally, it reviews structural needs, authorizes committees, and fulfills legislative responsibilities to advance the association’s mission and serve its members with excellence.
