The NSBA is presenting a Rural Education Virtual Summit on Dec. 13.

The national online gathering aims to address the unique challenges and opportunities facing rural schools. The program from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. includes a keynote presentation and two sessions: “Unlocking Potential: Panel Discussion Addressing Educational Challenges in Rural Communities” and “Stories from the Field — Revitalizing Rural Education: Insights and Innovations for Success.”

Registration opened Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Oregon school board members are working to bring more rural issues into the education conversation. The OSBA Board of Directors has approved a resolution to establish a Rural School Board Members Caucus, setting up a vote by member boards. OSBA will begin distributing ballots with the resolution Friday, Oct. 13.

Rural caucus supporters aim to amplify the voices of school board members in rural areas and help OSBA better support those communities’ unique needs.
