As of July 1, Oregon emergency teaching licenses for special education will require a bachelor’s degree, according to an Oregon Department of Education notice on Friday.
Oregon had been allowing teachers with emergency teaching licenses to lead special education classes. Federal law, though, requires all special education teachers to have a bachelor’s degree. Teachers without one cannot lead a class with a majority of special education students past June 30.
