The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released a new guide for supporting student mental health.
“Promoting Mental Health and Well-Being in Schools” offers district leaders tools and resources to improve their current services and address possible gaps. The guide includes six strategies for K-12 school-based approaches appropriate for principals and student support team leaders.
The CDC is reaching out to schools because its “Youth Risk Behavior Survey Data Summary and Trends Report: 2011-2021” shows youth mental health indicators have declined to an alarming level.
