The Oregon Department of Education warned school leaders Monday to beware unauthorized guidance and templates for applying for Early Literacy Success Initiative School Grants.
The 2023 Legislature dedicated $140 million to improve early literacy education, and school districts, education service districts and public charter schools are eligible for grants. ODE will release guidance and templates for applications Oct. 1. ODE said a third party has already shared some purported guidance and templates but those could jeopardize actual applications.
ODE said school leaders should look for only official correspondence from the department. The application window will open in December and close Jan. 8, according to ODE.
