Registration opened today, Sept. 15, for OSBA’s 77th Annual Convention – “Model the Way for Student Success.”

The annual gathering will be Nov. 9-11 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront hotel. The conference connects hundreds of school board members, administrators and education leaders from around the state. The schedule is packed with learning opportunities for new school board members and seasoned veterans.

On Nov. 9, in addition to the administrative professionals workshop, an all-day preconference session will focus on “Highly Effective Boards: The Key to Lifting Student Achievement,” presented by Balanced Governance Solutions founder Thomas L. Alsbury. During the conference, keynote speaker Adolph Brown, a leading and entertaining provider of anti-bias training, will talk on “Reflective Leaders are Effective Leaders.” Sarita Maybin, an international speaker and communications expert, will offer “Practical Solutions for Working Together Better.”

The conference will also have more than three dozen workshops on topics ranging from board culture and relationships with superintendents to support for students and engaging them in board governance.

Register now at the OSBA website. The preconference and administrative professionals workshop are $275 and the conference is $595, with meals included. After Oct. 19, prices will go up, and registration will have to be done on site. There will be no virtual option this year.
