The Quality Education Model

The Quality Education Model, begun in 1999, serves as the foundation for funding decisions about public schools at the state level. Based on solid educational research and practices, Oregon’s Quality Education Model identifies essential characteristics of successful schools and provides useful guidance for districts as they decide how best to allocate resources for students.

  • 2012 Quality Education Model Report (This file is in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Click here to download.) - Teachers working together is the key to achieving the governor’s 40/40/20 plan, the Oregon Department of Education announced on August 10, 2012, citing the newly issued 2012 Quality Education Model Report.
  • 2012 Quality Education Best Practices Brief: In October 2012 the Quality Education Commission released a study of teacher practices in Oregon's K-12 public schools which shows that teacher collaboration and formative assessment can "move the needle" in regards to student achievement.
