January

School Board Recognition Month is celebrated in January to honor the unpaid elected volunteers who serve on Oregon’s 197 local school boards, our 19 education service district boards and our 17 community college boards. 


February

Public Schools Week is a designated week for administrators, teachers, specialists, teacher educators, parents and school board members to host events for their communities and reach out to lawmakers, businesses, and other community members to discuss the importance of public education. 

Learning First Alliance’s social media toolkit includes sample social media posts, images, quotes and other graphics.  


March

Classified School Employees Week is celebrated every year during the first full week of March. OSBA has a sample resolution to proclaim this week in your school or district to help you honor your classified employees.

OSEA’s resources include print materials, social media graphics and e-cards to show your appreciation. 


April

Administrative Professionals Day is a day to recognize and celebrate administrative staff. Find events and resources at the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

National Assistant Principal Week is celebrated by the the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the American Federation of School Administrators. Find e-cards, activity ideas and ways to show your appreciation during #APWEEK

Public School Volunteer Week provides an opportunity for schools and families to honor and highlight the powerful contributions parents and caregivers provide at school and home to support student success. 


May

National School Nurse Day recognizes school nurses who work to improve the health and learning of students. The National Association of School Nurses provides social media graphics and information to help celebrate the contributions from school nurses. Use OSBA’s sample resolution to proclaim National School Nurse Day in your school or district. 

Teacher Appreciation Week is observed during the first full week in May. The celebration is sponsored by the National PTA which offers additional resources. Use OSBA’s sample resolution to proclaim the week in your school or district.

School Lunch Hero Day is the perfect opportunity to recognize the hardworking professionals in your school cafeterias. The School Nutrition Association has ideas, resources and sample proclamations. 


September

IT Professionals Day is celebrated on the third Tuesday of each September and was established in 2015 to honor the IT professionals who do the critical but often unseen work to keep our networks and applications running.


October

National Principals Month is celebrated in October to honor and advocate for these school leaders. Find celebration ideas, a social media toolkit and e-cards to honor your principal at www.principalsmonth.org.
