Policy manual distribution

The board's policy manual provides guidance for operation of a school system. For this reason, Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 332.505 states that written personnel policies shall be available for inspection by any school employee or the public, and that each employee will be specifically informed of their existence and availability and how to access them. To this end, the board's policy manual may be made available as an electronic version and posted access from related websites, e.g., district website, charter school website, a hard copy maintained in the central or main office, and considering OAR 581-022-2405(2) (see below), access be available in each school office and library.

The State Board of Education posts the following rule:

OAR 581-022-2405 (2) states that: personnel policies shall be accessible to any school employee and notice of their availability to the general public shall be published:

(a) A current copy shall be accessible in each school office and library; and

(b) Any organization which represents employees of the district shall be furnished a copy and revisions as they are made.
