Monday

1 p.m.: The Joint Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold a public hearing on:

  • The Oregon Department of Education (SB 5513).
  • The State School Fund (SB 5514).

3:15 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Providing that students who legally entered the United States under the Compact of Free Association treaty qualify for nonresident tuition and fees and are eligible to receive state and university scholarships or other financial aid (SB 553).

Tuesday

1 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Directing the Oregon Department of Education, in consultation with the STEM Investment Council, to develop a statewide, long-term strategic plan to provide computer science education (HB 2570).
  • Broadening the eligibility of youths who may participate in the statewide youth reengagement system (HB 2051).
  • Identifying economically disadvantaged students for Student Investment Account distributions (HB 2060).

1 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Establishing a Task Force on Education Pathways (HB 3236).
  • Directing the Oregon Department of Education to study meeting students' behavioral health needs (HB 2408).
  • Establishing a pilot program to improve educational outcomes by using trauma-informed approaches to education, health services and intervention strategies (HB 2368).

Wednesday

 1 p.m.: The Joint Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold a public hearing on:

  • The Oregon Department of Education (SB 5513).
  • The State School Fund (5514).

3:15 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Amending the definition of "employment relations" to include class size and caseload limits as mandatory collective bargaining subjects for school districts (SB 580).
  • Establishing a Task Force on Social Studies Standards (SB 702).
  • Requiring school districts to provide instruction on the racist history of this country and state (SB 683).
  • Requiring students to demonstrate proficiency in civics to receive a high school diploma (SB 513).
  • Requiring school districts to establish an educational equity advisory committee (SB 732).

3:15 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Establishing a Task Force on Restorative Justice (SB 736). 
  • Requiring for purposes of calculating a district’s extended ADMw, the calculations for virtual public charter schools would be separate from calculations for the school district if the school district’s enrollment has decreased (SB 743).
