Monday

1 p.m. | The Joint Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold a public hearing on:

  • The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (HB 5035).

1 p.m. |  The House Human Services Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Authorizing the Department of Human Services to award two-year grants to organizations that provide services to unaccompanied homeless youths and to organizations that operate host home projects for unaccompanied homeless youths (HB 2544). 

3:15 p.m. |  The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Requiring the Higher Education Coordinating Commission to establish a common course numbering system for all introductory and lower level courses (SB 233). 
  • Integrating foundational curricula and unified statewide transfer agreements into the Transfer Student Bill of Rights and Responsibilities (SB 76).
  • Requiring the Higher Education Coordinating Commission to design forms to allow students to identify themselves as a parent or legal guardian (SB 564). 

3:15 p.m. |  The House Revenue Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Modifying provisions of the corporate activity tax (HB 2429). 

Tuesday

1 p.m. |  The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Requiring education providers to prohibit the use or display of any symbols of hate on school property or in education programs (HB 2697). 
  • Studying meeting students' behavioral health needs (HB 2408). 
  • Notification requirements for school districts upon receipt of reports of acts of harassment, intimidation, bullying or cyberbullying (HB 2631). 
  • Making permanent school district funding for foreign exchange students and small school district grants (HB 2330).

1 p.m. |  The House Education Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Requiring school district to allow students to wear Native American items of cultural significance at public school events, including high school graduation (HB 2052). 
  • Requiring the Oregon Department of Education to provide technical assistance to school districts in adoption and implementation of child sexual abuse prevention instructional programs (HB 2828). 
  • Expanding high school diploma requirements related to completion of credits in English to allow completion of credits in language arts (HB 2056). 

1 p.m. |  The Joint Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold a public hearing on:

  • The State School Fund (SB 5514). 
  • The Oregon Department of Education (SB 5513). 

Wednesday

3:15 p.m. |  The Senate Finance and Revenue Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Authorizing the formation of children's service districts (SB 299). 

3:15 p.m. | The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Amending the definition of "employment relations" to include class size and caseload limits as mandatory collective bargaining subjects for school districts (SB 580). 
  • Reviewing state requirements for high school diplomas (SB 744).
