Student Success Act technical fix and elections bills
What it does: HB 2164 offers technical fixes to the language of the Student Success Act, HB 3427. SB 116 would set the election date as January 2020 for any voter referral of the Student Success Act.
What’s new: These bills are scheduled for votes on their respective chamber floors but are in jeopardy as a result of the Senate Republican walkout.
What it does: This bill would allocate approximately $3 billion to fund the operations of the Oregon Department of Education, which provides technical assistance, funding and oversight of programs relating to K-12 education, early learning and youth development. The agency also is responsible for distributing the State School Fund and operating the Oregon School for the Deaf.
What’s new: This bill is scheduled for a vote on the Senate floor but is now in jeopardy as a result of the Senate Republican walkout. ODE operations would be funded through Sept. 15 under a continuing resolution bill already passed.
What it does: The bill would establish the amounts authorized for issuance of general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, certificates of participation, and other financing agreements for the biennium, including hundreds of millions of dollars in school improvement and seismic upgrade bonds.
What’s new: This bill is scheduled for a vote in the Ways and Means Capital Construction Subcommittee but is in jeopardy as a result of the Senate Republican walkout.
