Town halls generate education discussion with legislators

Friday, February 1, 2019

The Oregonians for Student Success campaign continues to build momentum as the legislative session gets underway. We held two town hall discussions last week, on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in Oregon City with Reps. Andrea Salinas, Janelle Bynum and Mark Meek, and Saturday, Feb. 2, in Medford with Rep. Pam Marsh.

The next one is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Lane Education Service District in Eugene.

Partners including the Oregon Education Association, Stand for Children and other education advocates are promoting the events and sending members to add to the discussion.

We are mobilizing people for our upcoming advocacy days in the Capitol. The first will be Feb. 12, and they will continue weekly until late March. If you haven't RSVP’d, please take a moment to do so here. The day will include meeting with legislators and recognition of our group on the floor of the Legislature.

This is our chance to speak directly with legislators about our priorities for school funding and your participation is vital.
