PERS Side Accounts Workshop to address districts’ options

OSBA is offering a PERS Side Accounts Workshop to explore how districts can bring down their Public Employees Retirement System costs. Registration is open for the Jan. 17 event at the Willamette ESD Professional Learning Center in Salem.

Piper Jaffray Managing Director Carol Samuels and ECONorthwest Senior Project Director Randall Pozdena will explain what side accounts are and how they work as well as how to fund them and how to evaluate their usefulness for a district. The workshop will look at the prospects for state matching for side accounts and an analysis of potential returns on the accounts.
