OSBA attorneys have offered guidance for a recent public records request from InvestigateWest.
InvestigateWest, a nonprofit journalism studio, is examining concussions in youth sports in Oregon. It has asked school districts for a list of coaches, methods for training coaches about concussions, statistics on concussions in the district, and return-to-participation forms.
Under a recent change to Oregon public records law, schools have five days to acknowledge receipt of the request and 15 days to respond. Schools will need to redact some of the information.
