Attendance Works will present a free webinar at 11 a.m. Sept. 12 on ways to get kids to school and keep them coming back.
Attendance Works is a national and state initiative to promote school attendance through tracking data and partnering with families and community agencies. Data show school attendance is associated with graduating high school. Register for “Portraits of Change,” the final Attendance Awareness Month webinar, and learn more about the event.
Oregon Department of Education Chronic Absenteeism Specialist Robin Shobe, ODE Indian Education Specialist Ramona Halcomb and Willamina School District Superintendent Carrie Zimbrick will discuss the Tribal Attendance Pilot Project as part of the program. Presenters will also share examples of successful approaches to reducing chronic absenteeism.
During 2017-18, OSBA’s Promise of Oregon campaign (unrelated to Attendance Works) will focus on improving graduation rates, through videos, student stories and social media.
