OSBA Annual Convention resumes its place on November calendar

Monday, August 29, 2022

After a two-year interruption, the OSBA Annual Convention is back in person. Registration opens Monday, Aug. 29.

OSBA’s biggest training and networking event will return Nov. 10-13 to the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront Hotel. The 76th Annual Convention will include the usual array of inspiring speakers, practical advice for school board members and issue-driven sessions.

OSBA held its 2020 convention online because of the uncertainties at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the COVID-19 delta variant raging in 2021, OSBA cancelled its in-person and virtual convention plans.

Like schools, OSBA is getting back into in-person conventions with the benefit of virtual lessons learned over the past two years.

On Nov. 10, OSBA will hold a hybrid preconference workshop for administrative professionals as well as an equity-focused workshop for school board members and administrators. OSBA’s partners from the Center for Equity and Inclusion and A Long Talk will lead interactive activities examining equity, inclusion and diversity. Both workshops will include virtual options with online attendees able to communicate with people in the rooms.

The regular conference starts Friday, Nov. 11, with a free breakfast in the Exhibit Hall. OSBA will also present a workshop for school attorneys that day.

Registrations before Oct. 7 save $50. Meals are not included in the registration fee and can be purchased during registration or at the event.
