Business Oregon announced Monday nearly $60 million in seismic improvement grants for schools.
The state’s economic development agency manages the Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program, which offers money to make public buildings safer in an earthquake. In addition to emergency services, public K‐12 school districts, community colleges and education service districts are eligible for the competitive grants. This year’s awards totaled $81 million.
Twenty-four school districts will receive money this year, bringing the total to 299 schools helped since the first awards in 2009.
