OSBA Board picks officers for challenging times

Monday, September 21, 2020

Officers

The OSBA Board named its new officers Friday.

Maureen Wolf (Tigard-Tualatin SD) will become board president Jan. 1, and Kevin Cassidy (Baker SD) will become past president. Scott Rogers (Athena-Weston SD) will become president-elect, Sonja Mckenzie (Parkrose SD) will be vice president, and Patti Norris (Crook County SD) was chosen as secretary-treasurer.

OSBA’s election season is in full swing. The nominating period for regional OSBA Board positions ends Friday, Oct. 2, and several spots do not have a nominee yet.

School boards must submit nominations by formal resolution, and voting will begin in November. Election materials and a calendar can be found on the OSBA website.

Positions on the OSBA Board are chosen according to regions. The board offers guidance for the association as it advocates for stable and adequate funding and provides local boards with support and development.

This year’s board election regions are Central (3), Southern (5), Clackamas (7), Clackamas (8, which is one year to fill out a term), Douglas/South Coast (9), Marion (11), Yamhill/Polk (13), Washington (15) and Multnomah (17 and 19). Members serve two-year terms.
