Multnomah ESD offers free coronavirus sign designs

Friday, August 7, 2020

Free graphics for signs specific to “Ready Schools, Safe Learners” are available from the Multnomah Education Service District.

A member district asked for signs to help implement the Oregon Department of Education guidance, said Laura Conroy, Multnomah ESD director of communications and strategic engagement. The ESD, knowing many districts don’t have graphics departments, decided to create and share designs not already available from the Oregon Health Authority or the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, she said.

The dozens of multicultural templates created by graphic designer Lafcadio Adams are available on the ESD’s website. The designs include issues such as entry instructions, mask reminders, spacing directions and traffic pattern guidances.

Conroy said the district expects to create more signs as well as translations into Spanish, Somali, Russian, Chinese and Vietnamese. It is also looking for a manufacturer to create sturdier signs for uses such as outdoors. School districts can contact Conroy at lconroy@mesd.k12.or.us with questions.
