Colleges and universities allowed to resume in-person activities

In-person instruction and activities can resume Sunday, June 14, at Oregon’s colleges and universities if they meet COVID-19 public health standards.
The Higher Education Coordinating Commission and the Oregon Health Authority released guidelines Friday, June 12, that also apply to Oregon’s 17 community colleges and more than 260,000 students. An executive order from Gov. Kate Brown is expected.
“Each institution, each campus, and each building is different, and it’s critical that the implementation of this public health guidance be informed by direct community feedback,” Brown said in a news release.
Colleges and universities should consult local health authorities and create a plan to reduce potential coronavirus exposures. The guidelines include recommendations for physical distancing, hygiene, protective equipment, cleaning and limiting contacts.
