Sonja Mckenzie chosen for Multnomah OSBA Board position

OSBA’s Board of Directors appointed Sonja Mckenzie on Tuesday to fill out this year’s term for Multnomah Position 19.
Mckenzie is a Parkrose School Board member and a director in the Oregon School Board Members of Color Caucus. She is also on the leadership team for the East Metro STEAM Partnership, which supports science, technology, engineering, arts and math initiatives.
In her application materials, Mckenzie said she is focused on OSBA’s equity work and wants to help create a statewide athletic activities equity policy.
Position 19, vacated when Paul Anthony did not run for reelection to the Portland School Board, is among the board positions up for election this year. The nominating period opened Monday, Aug. 19.
