ODE webpage corrals Student Success Act information
Thursday, August 8, 2019
The Oregon Department of Education has created a Student Success Act webpage to share the latest information.
The act’s long-sought investment in Oregon schools will deliver roughly $1 billion a year for early learning, statewide education initiatives and enrollment-based grants to school districts. ODE is in the process of assembling teams and writing rules to help implement the act in 2020.
Districts will need to create spending plans vetted through their communities. ODE, in conjunction with education advocates including OSBA, is also creating a community engagement toolkit for school leaders, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
ODE’s new page includes background information on the act and links to information on how the new money can be used. ODE plans to update the page regularly.
