Lobby days bring education’s most pressing issues into Capitol

OSBA’s first School Funding Lobby Day is Feb. 12, part of a series to connect education leaders with local legislators to advocate for Oregon’s students.
OSBA’s Oregonians for Student Success Campaign is helping school board members make a compelling case for adequate and stable funding for schools. The daylong events offer training for effective advocacy and face-to-face time with legislators, an opportunity to make education issues personal.
OSBA has changed its approach to lobby days this year, creating multiple events rather than just one big day.
“We need to keep reminding legislators about the importance of investing in education this year,” said OSBA Legislative Services Director Lori Sattenspiel.
School board members can RSVP for a date that corresponds with their region or a more convenient date. OSBA has scheduled six lobby days:
Feb. 12: Multnomah and Clackamas counties
Feb. 19: The coast
Feb. 26: Washington, Yamhill and Polk counties
March 5: Lane, Linn, Benton, Lincoln and Marion counties
