Nominees will be judged on their advocacy efforts, leadership and support for student achievement. OSBA launched the recognition campaign in 2018 to honor an exceptional school board member who is making a difference in the community.
The contest is open to current school board members with a school district, education service district or community college OSBA-member board. Nominations must be submitted by March 15.
The winner receives free registration to OSBA’s Summer Board Conference in July and Annual Convention in November. The winner will be honored at the 2019 Annual Convention as well as being named on the OSBA website and on a plaque in OSBA’s Salem office.
OSBA Executive Director Jim Green encouraged school board members to recognize their colleagues’ contributions to improving students’ education. He said last year’s winner, Anne Bryan of the Beaverton School Board, epitomized the necessary dedication of school board members.
Bryan said the award brought many heartfelt congratulations from community members.
“Receiving this recognition reminded me that people care deeply about our schools,” she said.
