January dedicated to recognizing school board superheroes

January is School Board Recognition Month, a time to thank unpaid school board members for their long hours in service of Oregon’s children.

To help celebrate “School Board Superheroes,” OSBA has created a webpage with the governor’s proclamation, board service appreciation certificates, model news releases and sample logos. OSBA has also compiled ideas for activities and inexpensive but heartfelt gifts.  

OSBA encourages districts and community colleges to share their celebrations through #SchoolBoardMonth on Twitter and Instagram and to share on Facebook. School Board Recognition Month is also a chance to educate the public about the importance of public schools and the dedicated local leaders who oversee Oregon’s public schools structure.
