House District 53 forum at noon today at Deschutes Public Library

House District 53 candidates will take written questions at a noon forum today at the Deschutes Public Library.
Democrat Eileen Kiely and Republican Jack Zika are competing to replace Republican Rep. Gene Whisnant. The League of Women Voters and the library are hosting, and refreshments will be provided.
OSBA Executive Director Jim Green said election season provides an important opportunity for education advocates to determine where candidates stand on the need to fund K-12 schools to the Quality Education Model.
“Our students need lawmakers who understand why we should be investing more in young people,” Green said.
OSBA members have consistently identified revenue reform and cost containment as their top legislative priorities.
