New ‘Promise’ video shows how N. Clackamas program promotes graduation

Monday, July 23, 2018

A new video showing how the North Clackamas School District’s career and technical education program is helping lift graduation rates debuted today on The Promise of Oregon website.

The video tells the story of Krista Ashbaugh, a 2018 Clackamas High graduate whose studies at the district’s Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical Center have led her to seek a career in the health field. Lyn Gray, a health services teacher at the center, mentored Ashbaugh and encouraged her to pursue her passion.

Ashbaugh plans to attend Southern Oregon University in the fall.

The video is part of a series of Promise efforts over the past year focusing on improving graduation rates at Oregon high schools statewide.

The Promise of Oregon debuted in 2014 as a public awareness campaign by OSBA. Its goal is to celebrate students’ achievements, and ensure that Oregon invests adequately in public education so young people can reach their potential. Throughout the coming year the campaign will focus on the need for revenue reform and cost containment, with a goal of sustainably and fully funding public schools.
