  • OSBA Janus v AFSCME guidance

OSBA Janus v AFSCME guidance (UPDATED 6/28/18 at 4:00 p.m.)

Thursday, June 28, 2018

The new Supreme Court decision is expected to have significant effects on Oregon labor unions and their agreements with schools. OSBA's Labor Services Department is drafting a guidance document for schools to assist in responding. Because of the legal complexity of the case the guidance will be evolving throughout today and later this week, therefore check back often to get the latest information.

Additional resources:

  • Janus v. AFSCME: U.S. Supreme Court ruling.
  • National School Boards Association FAQ: It should be noted that the FAQ is national and is not specific to Oregon. If you have questions about this information as it applies to Oregon, please contact OSBA’s Labor Services department or your district’s attorney. Additionally, please note that in this document, fair share fees are called agency fees. For the purposes of this document, these two terms are interchangeable.
