OSBA Policy Services updates the models for K-12 districts and charter schools every year. The model handbooks provide a basis for creating documents and can be updated. The fully annotated models offer statements and notices required by law, sample language, local district requirements, editorial notes on how to use the information, and suggestions on how to correlate items with board policy.
The calendar includes a quick reference guide to state and federal requirements and timelines. OSBA staff members have reviewed the Oregon Revised Statutes, Oregon Administrative Rules, federal law and other resources to compile a list of required and suggested board and administrative actions.
“Handbooks are crucial to the communication between the district and students, parents and staff,” said OSBA Policy Services Director Peggy Holstedt. “Calendars assure responsibilities are spelled out and completed in a timely manner and nothing is forgotten.”
