Student Success Committee will hold public meeting Thursday in Eugene

Friday, March 16, 2018
Joint Interim Committee Banner

The Joint Interim Committee on Student Success will have its first travel meeting Thursday, March 22, in Eugene.

The committee is working to create a plan to improve Oregon K-12 public education and to provide adequate funding. Members will hold listening sessions around the state to gather input and ideas for legislation in 2019. The approach is modeled on a special committee that successfully pushed a $5.3 billion transportation package in 2017.

The committee is planning a morning listening session with local students and an afternoon tour of regional education facilities. Committee members will have a roundtable discussion with regional education leaders from 4 to 6 p.m., and OSBA and the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators will be sending representatives.

The committee will hold a public hearing from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Sheldon High School auditorium. Testimony will be limited to two minutes per person, and sign-up sheets will be available at 6:30 p.m.  Testimony for the record can also be submitted at jcss.exhibits@oregonlegislature.gov.
