OSBA to participate in Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C.

Friday, February 2, 2018

Members of OSBA’s staff, Board of Directors and Legislative Policy Committee will join hundreds of public education advocates Sunday through Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

The National School Boards Association’s 2018 Advocacy Institute connects attendees with members of Congress, legal experts, policy influencers and school board members from around the country. Workshops and symposiums offer insights on local and national issues and sharpen advocacy skills.

OSBA representatives have appointments scheduled with every member of the Oregon congressional delegation. Among the major education issues, OSBA members will be talking about renewal of the Secure Rural Schools funding program, immigration reform, protections for public schools funding and support for career and technical education.

Some members will also attend a Saturday symposium on equity for academically and economically disadvantaged students.
