Questions about contracts during the COVID-19 school closures?

In the aftermath of COVID-19 school closures, schools are operating in whole new way. Schools are finding that contracted services are no longer necessary or those services are needed on a very limited basis. What can a school or district do when a contract is no longer meeting their needs? Please Join OSBA attorneys and labor staff as they help navigate new contractual issues arising during COVID-19 school closures, including: guidance on transportation contracts; how to safeguard schools with contract addendums; and contract funding issues. They will also discuss the CARES Act in relation to contractual agreements and what to consider when it is no longer practicable to continue a contract. Finally, there will be a look forward regarding provisions that should be added to future contracts to make it easier for the school to terminate a contract if an unexpected event like COVID-19 changes the school’s need for the contracted service.
