Charter schools- please read the following before registering for OSBA’s Virtual Summer Board Conference:
As you may have heard, OSBA’s tax status changed as of July 1, 2018 (see FAQ linked below for details). Under the new designation, OSBA can no longer accept dues and/or service fees from charter schools because they are not recognized as political subdivisions of the state as defined under federal tax code. Therefore, beginning July 1, 2018, charter schools will no longer be able to be associate members or contract directly with OSBA for services.
To access OSBA services, which includes conferences and events, charter schools are now required to submit a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) acknowledging that their sponsoring district has a process in place that provides access to OSBA services. OSBA needs to have your fully executed MOU on file prior to the conference (see sample MOU linked below), or we will not be able to honor your registration. Please e-mail the completed MOU to Vicky Black at vblack@osba.org.

Keynote Presentations:
Planning for Returning to School: Key Considerations for Health and Equity
Colt Gill, Oregon deputy superintendent of public instruction
Oregon’s recovery from the pandemic requires that we ensure community health by preventing the virus from spreading, while our schools provide the education and services students need to reach their full potential. Science, evidence, research and engagement will be our touchstones in reaching these goals. But how can we also assure equity and strong academics? How can we preserve our schools as strong community hubs? Join us in creating a flexible response that assures the well-being of our students, staffs and communities.
Fall Athletics and Activities Outlook: An Update from OSAA
Peter Weber, OSAA executive director
In this ever-changing landscape of reopening Oregon due to the impacts of COVID-19, many questions exist about high school athletics and activities. Peter Weber, executive director of the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA), will share an update on where things stand currently and for the upcoming 2020-21 school year.
