Brady fund grants

The Oregon School Boards Association distributes Robert Brady Charitable Trust grants to districts for distribution to needy students.

Each year, OSBA requests and reviews grant applications and disburses checks. Grant funds must be used to buy clothing, school supplies and/or vision and hearing services. The dollar amount and number of grants vary from year to year based on trust investments. In 2021-22, grant application requests were limited to $25 per student and seven students per district, however, award amounts were larger due to fewer applicants. Although Brady funds are limited, many districts use them to leverage other donations—gathering together enough community resources to make significant contributions to students in need.

Robert Brady died in Portland in 1936 and his charitable trust has been operating since 1958. Thanks to his generosity and far-sightedness, needy Oregon students received a total of $12,500 in grant funds in 2021-22. We received 134 applications from 23 school districts.

Information about how to apply for the next round of grants will be posted in the the 2022-23 school year.
