| The 2001-2002 substitute
teacher pay rates are based on 2000-01 base salaries paid to 540
first-year teachers with a baccalaureate. Their salaries ranged
from $22,624 to $33,532, resulting in a rate of $130.02 per day
for substitute teachers.
The minimum rate for the
first 10 days is based on 85 percent of 1/190 of the average for
all first-year teachers with a baccalaureate. For districts with
no salary scale, the minimum rate for subsequent days in the same
assignment for the same teacher is 1/190 of the average of $28,299
or $152.97 per day. For districts with a salary scale, ORS 342.610
provides that these subsequent days be paid at the higher of the
district's salary scale or 1/190 of the average beginning salary.
