The 2007 Oregon Legislature adopted HJR 15, which refers a constitutional amendment proposal to Oregon voters at the November 4, 2008 General Election that would restore simple majority voting.

• At the Sept 14-15, 2007 meeting in Salem, the OSBA Board of Directors adopted a resolution supporting restoration of simple majority voting requirement (56k )

The OSBA Board unanimously passed two resolutions at its June 21-22, 2008 meeting. 

• Resolution opposing Initiative Petition 3 (60k ), which would increase federal income tax deductibility -- estimated to reduce state general funds by $1.24 billion in 2009-11 and $2.26 billion in 2011-13.

• Resolution opposing Initiative Petition 19 (60k ), which would limit English as a Second Language instruction -- reduces local control over instruction programs.

The OSBA Board encourages local boards to adopt similar resolutions. The board also encourages LPC committee members to make personal contact about these measures with local boards in their regions.
