Why join Leadership Oregon?
OSBA offers you a unique opportunity to hone your leadership skills and build a strong support network.
Public education needs inspired, effective leaders. Your schools
- all schools in Oregon - depend on you for that leadership.
Today’s citizens place greater demands on their schools. They expect accountability for student learning. They expect students to meet state and federal standards.
And they expect you
- the school board - to lead the way. And, close the achievement gap to boot.
At the same time, public education has become more complicated. School boards must understand how education agencies work together, how society has changed dramatically, how trends and regulations affect their students, ESDs or community colleges
- and how to wake up their own communities to get more involved.
As you know, serving on a board isn’t always easy. But it’s always important. You have chosen the “calling” to serve your community. We salute your dedication
- now make good on that promise!
Is it expensive?
Surprisingly not. OSBA pays for lodging and most meals. Your only cost is transportation to and from the sessions, dinners on your own
- plus the time you spend away from home and work.
The hidden bonus
Here’s a great bonus: Because the class is small, you’ll find that you create lasting friendships through Leadership Oregon. That’s one of the biggest benefits “grads” report. You become close friends with a group of dedicated leaders just like you. You get ideas to “steal,” resources to share
- and that shoulder to cry on. You also get to know OSBA staff very well, and how to tap into their expertise.
How do I apply?
