Chalkboard Project Proposes School Improvements
March
30, 2006 Outlook & Review (49k )
The Chalkboard Project, an independent nonprofit group aimed at improving Oregon schools, recently unveiled recommendations for change, including increasing state spending and decreasing class sizes.
“Chalkboard has been a great forum for demonstrating openness to changing how we educate children and run district operations,” said OSBA Executive Director Kevin McCann. “I’ve been involved in Chalkboard work groups that have come up with ways to improve professional-development models for educators, and Chalkboard’s finance work group has identified areas in which to explore efficiencies and make some system changes to stabilize funding and improve student achievement.”
