Emergency Preparedness and Security Resources

The following resources will help school officials prepare for any emergency, including threats of war, terrorism, disaster and violence:

Office of Public Safety and Security - Formed in 2001, provides timely briefings to top state officials. This office monitors international and domestic terrorism, domestic preparedness issues and intelligence matters. It coordinates with the National Office of Homeland Security.

Emergency Planning Resources - To provide school leaders with emergency preparedness information, U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige and U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge recently launched a "one-stop-shop" to help school officials plan for any emergency, including natural disasters, acts of violence and terrorism.

American Red Cross Homeland Security Advisory System - Recommendations for individuals, families, neighborhoods, schools, and businesses available in English and Spanish.
