Revenue forecast down, OSBA urges members to contact legislators
February 08, 2010
The state Office of Economic Analysis released its quarterly revenue forecast on February 8 — projecting declining state revenue. This forecast is an estimate; actual revenue could differ significantly. The May 27 revenue forecast, for example, could show an increase as it has in years past.
Despite this snapshot showing lower than expected revenue, legislative leaders pledged action this month to ensure $6 billion for K-12 education, as allocated in 2009.
OSBA members are urged to call their state senator and representative to ask them to reaffirm their commitment to $6 billion for K-12 education. You may reach your legislator by calling the Capitol switchboard at 1-800-332-2313. Local advocacy is critical. Please contact your legislators now to ask them to reaffirm their commitment to $6 billion for public schools.
