Sample "Welcome Back" Letter
This sample letter can be printed on your school letterhead and mailed to the parents of the students in your school, or it can be used as the introduction to your "back-to-school" newsletter. This is just a sample of what OSBA members get with a subscription to PR in Action

Dear (school name) family:

Welcome back! We’re happy to have our (number) students returning to school and a special welcome to the (number of new) students joining our neighborhood.

We want your child to be happy and successful at (school name) and believe that you play a key role. That role is to continually show interest in and support for your child. The child who knows that his or her family is interested in and supports the school program will almost always have fewer problems in school and will enjoy greater success.

We believe in fair and consistent discipline that encourages students to be responsible for themselves. At school, we try to create a safe environment where courtesy and kindness prevail and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures.

Please share with your child’s teacher any information regarding his or her special needs that will help us better serve your family. We believe that communication among parents, students and teachers is critical in assuring student success.

Sincerely,

The (school name) Staff
or (principal’s name)
