OSBA elects 2006-07 board
SALEM Jeff
Sanders, Jefferson County School District board member, is the new president of the Oregon School Boards Association for 2006-2007. “I’m dedicated to ensuring all our kids get the kind of education they deserve,” says Sanders. “High-quality public education is important now and for Oregon’s future.”
Sanders was installed as president at the association’s annual banquet Nov. 11 in Portland.
Other newly elected officers:
- Craig Prewitt (Phoenix-Talent), president-elect
- Annette Mattson (David Douglas), vice president
- Beth Gerot (Eugene), secretary/treasurer.
- David Beeson (Silver Falls) is the association’s immediate past president.
The one newly elected board member is Bobbie Regan (Portland), director at large.
Board members elected for a second term:
- Fred Marble (Forest Grove), 1st Congressional District
- Idalia Stam (Nyssa), 2nd Congressional District
- Harry Ainsworth (Multnomah ESD), 3rd Congressional
District (served one year as an appointee)
- Wally Hazen (Coos Bay), 4th Congressional District
(served one year as an appointee); and
- Maria Caballero (Gervais), 5th Congressional District.
OSBA officers serve one-year terms; directors serve two-year terms unless elected to fill a vacancy created by a board resignation.
