Identified Governance Issues

The following is a preliminary list of issues that the OSBA Governance Committee has identified for further review and analysis. The committee will be analyzing and evaluating the current governance structure of the OSBA as an ongoing activity as these and other issues are identified.
  • The elections and representational structure for the OSBA Board of Directors
    • Term limits
    • Length of term
    • Mechanism for regionalization of board positions
  • Nominations process for vacant OSBA Board positions
  • OSBA Board officer positions
    • Number of positions
    • Progression through officer positions
  • Member voting mechanisms and forums
    • Vote-by-mail resolution at the November, 2006 annual meeting
    • If the resolution passes, the process used by the OSBA
    • Use of individual board member voting versus one-vote one-board
  • Resolutions process and member input and access
  • Annual business meeting
  • Use of technology in governance issues (virtual forums, communications, etc.)
  • Regionalized county school board associations
  • Nature of OSBA:
