The following resolutions were adopted by the OSBA membership during electronic voting that took place Nov. 17 - Dec. 15, 2008:

• Resolution 1 (53k ) amended the constitution to make housekeeping changes in the language so that everything falls in line with the governance changes approved by members November 2007.

• Resolution 2 (21k ) amended the OSBA constitution to guide our access to the endowment fund created when the OSBA Health Insurance Trust was terminated. It defines rules for accessing the endowment principal.

• Resolution 3 (27k ) adopted the 2009 OSBA Legislative Policies and Priorities.

The OSBA Board unanimously passed two resolutions at its June 21-22, 2008 meeting:

• Resolution opposing Initiative Petition 3 (60k ), which would increase federal income tax deductibility -- estimated to reduce state general funds by $1.24 billion in 2009-11 and $2.26 billion in 2011-13.
• Resolution opposing Initiative Petition 19 (60k ), which would limit English as a Second Language instruction -- reduces local control over instruction programs.

2002 Resolutions and Constitution Changes

OSBA members adopted the following three resolutions and changes to OSBA’s constitution at the Nov. 16, 2002 Membership Meeting held during OSBA’s Annual Convention:

OSBA members adopted the following two resolutions at the Nov. 17, 2001 Membership Meeting held during OSBA's Annual Convention:

• K-12 Funding in the Special Legislative Session

• Strategy to Achieve Long-Term Adequate, Stable and Equitable School Funding

At the Nov. 11 annual membership meeting, OSBA members approved all but one of five proposed resolutions. Failing to pass was the charter school resolution. This proposal supported a change in the law to make transfer requirements apply equally to charter school and regular public school students.
