OSBA candidates announced
September 20, 2007 issue of Outlook & Review

The OSBA Nominating Committee presented its slate of candidates to the OSBA board at its Sept. 14-15 regular meeting in Salem:

  • Craig Prewitt (Phoenix-Talent), president-elect, becomes president.
  • Annette Mattson (David Douglas), currently vice president, is the committee's pick for president-elect.
  • Beth Gerot (Eugene), currently secretary-treasurer, is the committee's pick for vice-president.

The committee nominated one secretary-treasurer candidate:

  • Scott Pillar (High Desert ESD).

The committee nominated the following candidates for the board:

  • First Congressional District: Karen Cunningham (Beaverton) and Patti McLeod (Hillsboro).
  • Second Congressional District: Dave Krumbein (Pendleton).
  • Third Congressional District: Kris Howatt (Gresham Barlow).
  • Fourth Congressional District: Don Bacher (Greater Albany).
  • Fifth Congressional District: Krina Lemons (Salem-Keizer).
  • Director-at-large: Roger Ernstrom (Centennial) and Nori Juba (Bend-LaPine).

Voting will take place during the convention. The new board assumes office following ballot counting after the election.
Members can still nominate candidates by submitting a petition signed by 15 board members representing at least three member boards. Petitions must be received in the OSBA office by 5 p.m., Oct. 25, and include the nominee's written consent. Ten days before the annual meeting, the final slate of nominees will be sent to all members.

If the resolution to change the OSBA Constitution passes, the terms of office for board members elected this November would end December 31, 2008, except for those of the president-elect and president, who would continue as president and past president January 2009-2010. Only these two positions would not be subject to regional board elections in September 2008.
