The OSBA Board at its March 3 meeting voted to endorse Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction Susan Castillo in her bid for re-election to a second term.
“We’ve been very pleased with Superintendent Castillo’s accomplishments and wholeheartedly endorse her re-election to a second term as Oregon’s superintendent of public instruction,” said OSBA President
David Beeson (Silver Falls).
Beeson noted Castillo has focused on seeking adequate and stable school funding, closing the achievement gap, improving communication with K-12 stakeholders, making the state Department of Education more responsive to local school districts, and leading the charge to make the federal No Child Left Behind Act more workable for Oregon schools and Oregon’s Educational Act for the 21st Century more meaningful to students – all goals shared by OSBA.
“We are eager to work with Supt. Castillo in her second term efforts to achieve our shared vision for Oregon’s public education system,” Beeson said.
