Notice of Open Administrative Position

Position:                     Elementary School Principal at Highland Elementary School

Filing Deadline:         May 23, 2014

Effective:                   July 1, 2014

Salary/Benefits:        Initial Salary for a 220 day contract: $70,000-80,000 
                                   District pays PERS contribution and offers an excellent benefit package.

Primary Purpose:    The school Principal serves as the instructional leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment, which meets the approved curriculum and mission of the school district. Achieving academic excellence requires that the school Principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent to the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures and facility operations. The school has submitted a grant for the School Improvement Grant, (SIG). There will be strict guidelines upon receiving the grant. The Principal must be a strong educational leader who can hold staff accountable for student achievement. He/she must lead staff in a direction known to be effective in similar schools, know when to encourage and when to mandate,

  • Has a strong background in elementary education 
  • Has expertise in Math and Reading instruction 
  • Deft understanding of instructional programs, including effective interventions and enrichment 
  • Demonstrated ability to discern and shape teaching effectiveness 
  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong relationships with staff and community 
  • Capable of managing tight school budgets 
  • Effectively use the district evaluation system to build on the strengths of staff and implement effective instructional practices 
  • Effective communicator

  • Skilled at mining student data growth

  • Stays current on professional practices
